Opportunity: We are looking for a committed Freelance Social Media + Community Manager who stands for inclusivity all the time, is hard-working + a team player who will play a critical role in building thy.self, as well as to grow and work within our team. 

Essential Skills

  • You are fluent in English
  • Experienced in building social media accounts and implementing a cross-platform social media strategy. Our channels include Instagram, Linkedin, Whats App, Facebook and TikTok.
  • You're a great writer and have experience creating compelling copy, video and imagery for social media
  • You own visual intellect - you can tell clipart from an unbranded editorial/ advertorial image
  • You know which creatives are upcoming and will have a way of working with them
  • Full of off-key ideas for our social
  • Able to demonstrate awareness of and support to diversity + inclusion as well as understanding of cultural nuances 
  • Maintaining excellent relationships with communities of consumers on social media, ensuring there is meaningful interaction between ourselves, customers, agencies, individuals and influencers.
  • Proficient in Adobe Suite - particularly Photoshop + Premiere Pro
  • Ability to understand analytics data from Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and report on performance.
  • Flexible to work outside standard working hours when required - evenings and weekend coverage for events.
  • A proactive professional with great attention to detail, personally accountable for your own time management and the ability to be self-sufficient
  • You've got a passion for great (and cool) content, making the world a better place, evident diversity and inclusion, lifestyle editorials, wellness, pop culture, beauty and are obsessively following these trends as well as the wider zeitgeist
  • You have a commercial understanding of the broader role social plays in digital marketing and brand building
  • You're not afraid of ambitious targets, thinking outside of the box and can handle juggling a number of tasks and projects at one time
  • Have worked (in some capacity) with global household name brands like Nike, Adidas, Glossier, GirlGaze etc simply for understanding the level of output required in this role 
  • Must not work for another agency or a similar brand

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Build our brand voice: set social and creative strategy, manage daily editorial development/execution, lead community management and support customer service, social campaign planning and other marketing initiatives
  • Demonstrate channel presence like a huge brand ie Goop, Every Stylish Girl, Ethel’s Club, Glossier, Nike London etc
  • Analyse engagement and growth surrounding the work you do on social, and share learnings from community channels with the rest of the team and other thy.self functions to continually optimise the platform for our audience
  • Develop, coordinate, and monitor social engagement with partners (i.e., affiliate marketing partners), brands, talent (authors/narrators) and influencers
  • Own community forums to drive deeper engagement with current thy.self audiences, while also bringing new fans into the fold
  • Evolve in your role with our brand - continuously identify new ways we can drive growth and engagement, and take new ideas from planning through execution quickly and efficiently
  • Understand our audience and fanbase - work proactively to engage with our research efforts, learn about our authors and their personal brands and stay on top of market trends in the geek genre world (comics, anime, horror films, speculative fiction TV, etc.)
  • Have your finger on the pulse of topics and trending content and make sure thy.self is solidly represented in them
  • Bring passion! We want you jumping up and down and shouting about thy.self because you're that excited about what we're doing!
  • Create a monthly content schedule for thy.self’s social media channels - Plan, create, write copy and schedule social posts for daily content across channels/ app (incl. video, stories, competitions etc)
  • Content creation across all social media channels, our newsletter and our website
  • Ability to create original, meaningful and entertaining content and not just copy what others are doing
  • Ensuring our community is apart of each month’s plan by monthly outreach through our influencer connections and our wider community (mailer, IG story teasers, IG dm’s, Whats App call outs etc)
  • Weekly community management in thy.self’s specific TOV (Tone of Voice)
  • Bi-weekly reporting to include trend insight and competitor analysis (to be presented in bi-weekly Monday morning meetings)
  • Presenting content strategies and concepts (bi-weekly)
  • Time management and organisation on getting content and plan made, approved and scheduled in a timely manner (not last minute)
  • Supporting all parts of the business on all things 'social' and ‘digital’
  • Look for brand partnership opportunities on social media
  • Advising on social platform choice, strategy and direction
  • Blog post writing
  • Updating the website and ensuring it’s always up to date with our recent work, activities and simply working as it should - fast and sleek
  • Looking into building out and providing content for channels like Telegram, Patreon + Wise Words
  • Growing our channel in line with our company’s growth and the business plans

Skills + Qualifications

  • Proven understanding of social platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Linkedin, Pinterest, TikTok etc.), and what content works best to meet specific marketing/business goals across each
  • Ability to engage and grow a community (multiplatform) organically with demonstrable and measurable results
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a tight-knit team - equally comfortable as an independent contributor and a team collaborator
  • Experience with measurement tools (Google Analytics, Hootsuite, FB audience manager + Creator Studio etc.)
  • Graphic design experience a major plus
  • Comfort being on-camera + representing our brand
  • Non-typical working hours ability to moderate events and bring even more personality/voice to the thy.self community
  • Public speaking
  • Directing creative shoots + projects
  • Project management
