Boots Health & Beauty is the largest circulation magazine dedicated to wellbeing in the UK, reaching 1.5 million readers six times a year. We are looking to recruit a talented Sub-Editor to join our busy subs’ desk, working across both the print and digital editions.

You’ll need to be highly organised, calm under pressure, have a knack for clever heads and sells, the ability to cut through legal and medical jargon to make sure our copy is fun, engaging and accessible – and be a fact-checking machine! A passion for women’s magazines and a good understanding of the Boots brand is also a must.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Subbing layouts in InDesign, ensuring copy is correct, legally sound and follows house tone and style
• Fact-checking and compiling sources documents for the client
• Writing heads, sells and captions
• Taking in amends from the editorial, client, advertising and legal/pharmaceutical teams, across both print and digital
• Working alongside the ad team to produce smart, innovative advertorials and showcases for print and digital
• Preparing and sending pages to press 
• Checking and repurposing print copy for the digital edition
• Editing and updating content on the CMS
• Assisting the Chief Sub-Editor and Deputy Chief Sub-Editor with the day-to-day running of the desk to ensure workflow is smooth and deadlines are met

Skills and experience required:

• A minimum of two years’ demonstrable subbing experience
• Thorough knowledge of InDesign and wordpress CMS
• Enthusiasm and a can-do attitude
• Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure
• Excellent grammar and an obsessive eye for detail

Desirable:

• Experience in the health/beauty/wellbeing magazine sector
• Previous experience of working with a client

Boots Health & Beauty magazine is overseen by Bookmark Content & Communications, which has over 30 years’ experience of brand publishing and content marketing and is a key part of WPP’s Boots Team, based in 

Sea Containers House on London’s South Bank.
