British Vogue has a rare opportunity for an energetic and experienced fashion assistant to join its busy department at the heart of the country’s most iconic magazine brand.
The successful candidate will have thorough experience as an assistant within the fashion industry and be able to support British Vogue’s fashion editors and directors directly, as well as demonstrating an ability to work independently and use their own initiative to carry out research and then follow through with the sourcing of product for shoots.
He/she will also support the team by taking care of administrative tasks such as logging credits, product call-ins and returns while also balancing the creative requirements of the editors and photographers. Experience of processing carnets and customs is a must and knowledge of the international fashion weeks’ structure and related planning is a real advantage.
It’s a fun and creative department, and the work can often encompass travel and working with top-level talent, but the hours can be long and the work demanding, so a cheerful disposition paired with a methodical, hardworking personality is crucial.
Ket Duties & Responsibilities:
- To assist British Vogue’s fashion editors and directors on shoots throughout the magazine and across the brand
- To carry out research that informs the creative on fashion shoots, from moodboards to location and casting suggestions
- To follow up by sourcing selected clothing, accessories, props and other items for fashion shoots
- To assist with the smooth running of the fashion cupboard
- To assist with general office administration of the department
- To assist with diary management of senior members of the fashion department and administrative tasks
- To maintain and help build good relationships with PRs and key contacts in the industry, attending press days if necessary
Essential Skills and Requirements:
- Previous experience as a fashion assistant either on a high-profile fashion publication or alongside a busy editorial stylist
- Strong and resourceful research skills
- First class administrative skills
- Super-efficient time management
- Impeccable phone manner and e-mail tone
- Team player mentality, able to work with colleagues at all levels
- Calm under pressure and able to deliver to deadline
- Above all, a passion for Vogue and the wider fashion industry
