Date Expires: Friday 5th February 2021

Stitch Fix UK - Senior Communications Manager

Stitch Fix is revolutionising the way women and men shop in the UK by delivering one-to-one personalised styling to our customers through the combination of human expertise and data science. Stitch Fix was founded in 2011 by Katrina Lake. Since then, we’ve helped millions of women and men discover and buy what they love through personalised parcels of clothing, hand-selected by Stitch Fix stylists and delivered to our clients.

About the Team

The most successful companies are brilliant storytellers, who put their products, their people and why they matter at the heart of every communication.

Reporting to the Director of Consumer Communications, you will join a (growing) 15+ strong team of ambitious communications and social professionals who are passionate about telling the Stitch Fix story internally, externally, and through social and influencer communications. Our goal is to engage, educate and inspire all of our audiences around Stitch Fix’s vision for a future of retail that is more personal.

Externally facing teams drive the delivery of our communications strategy and narratives through media relationships, at events and on our owned channels, while aligning with partners in strategy, marketing, merchandising, product, algorithms and engineering to share the depth and breadth of stories which make Stitch Fix unique. Internally, we work across the business to create effective, authentic and relevant communications that support our employees and bring our culture to life.

About the Role

Stitch Fix is looking for a Senior Communications Manager to lead our in-house team in our London Office, reporting to the Director of Communications, who is based in the U.S. You will be one-of-three key members of the UK based communications team, charged with creating and executing the consumer communications strategy for the growing and rapidly-evolving brand in the U.K.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Communications Manager to lead this critical function in London in partnership with the leadership team and the global communications team. This role will also oversee our influencer marketing strategy in the UK, in close partnership with our UK Marketing and Social teams. Stitch Fix is rapidly innovating the customer experience in the U.K. and this role will involve multiple new consumer product launches, providing the opportunity to do integrated campaign work. You will work in partnership with the Director of Communications (based in the U.S.) and be supported by an Associate communications team member and two external agencies (both of whom are based in London).

This is a full-time role with benefits based in London. Think you may be the perfect fit? Read on!

You’re excited about the role because you will...

  • Work alongside the UK Leadership team and the Global Communications team to develop campaigns and press office strategies that align with overall business objectives that educate consumers, connect in a real and relevant way, and set Stitch Fix apart in the market. You will ensure comms activities deliver on key metrics for success and momentum.
  • Consumer Communications - Set strategy for communications focused on relevant consumer audiences. Lead day-to-day execution, including creative campaigns, proactive outreach angles and events (when applicable), ensuring key deadlines are met and campaigns are delivered on time with high-quality execution and maximum impact for the brand.
  • Influencer marketing - Set strategy and ensure all influencer partnerships reach new audiences in the UK, achieving both reach and engagement, while simultaneously being on-brand. Oversee measurement, results and reporting for influencer marketing.
  • Ideate, create, and lead integrated PR-led brand campaigns in partnership with Marketing & Social teams, agency partners and the creative team. These campaigns are multi-channel and require some knowledge of marketing fundamentals & metrics. This also includes managing paid media partnerships, as well as earned media.
  • Manage agency partners day-to-day and lead in-house comms. team in London.
  • Manage budgets with agencies and vendors, set key performance indicators (KPIs) for business as usual press office work and campaigns, set objectives and key results (OKRs) with the leadership team, and weekly & monthly reporting.
  • Maintain UK Press Kit - Oversight of UK press kit, ensuring fact sheets and seasonal messaging, brand lists, etc. are up to date. Draft press releases, briefing documents, media FAQs, for executives with minimal oversight and review.
  • Internal Communications - Lead monthly All-Hands meetings virtually (and eventually in-person). Partner with the UK leadership team to ensure internal communications are consistent and in-line with the Stitch Fix employer tone of voice.
  • Manage brand reputation & risk - Respond to immediate reputation needs of the brand in the UK market, align with local leadership on and respond in a timely fashion to inbound press.
  • Brand ambassador - Act as a brand ambassador for Stitch Fix in London, conducting key media meets with consumer & top national press contacts, as well as influencers.
  • Once travel & In-person meetings resume - Manage executive visits from the US and be the main point of contact for US executives in London for comms. initiatives, both external and internal. Conduct key meet & greets with press in London and travel to industry events in the UK & Europe. Manage seasonal press & influencer events in London to build local relationships and brand awareness.

We’re excited about you because you have...

  • 8+ years of experience in PR/MKTG/Communications for a consumer brand, either in-house or agency or both, leading business as usual consumer press office & influencer marketing.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and ability to manage multiple rolling deadlines and last minutes asks simultaneously with ease. Highly organised with impeccable attention to detail and initiative is a must.
  • Ability to influence key internal stakeholders and manage expectations on media response and interest.
  • You have a strong network of consumer media relationships in London. You have demonstrated success in using your own network to drive coverage. You are comfortable being an advocate for a brand with media, influencers and event organizers. You have a strong understanding of how the retail industry is changing and can adapt a communications strategy to reflect that.
  • You’re highly motivated - You are used to working in a fast-paced environment and are able to thrive in ambiguity and pave a path forward. You are adaptable and flexible and take a proactive approach to your work, with minimum oversight or guidance. You have an excellent work ethic and perform well under pressure.
  • Willingness to flex schedule in order to accommodate US counterparts based on the West Coast & attend key global company-wide meetings (Stitch Fix is headquartered in San Francisco).
  • Experience in both the UK and EU markets is preferred, with international launch experience in the U.K. or Europe for a consumer brand a plus.
  • Strong ability to lead, influence and partner with multiple functions: Marketing, Merchandising, Creative, etc. in the business with relative ease.
  • Experience in crisis response communications and internal communications preferred, but not required. If you don’t have experience in internal communications or crisis response communications, you must demonstrate a willingness to learn these competencies and become comfortable flagging issues to senior management in both the US & UK longer term.
  • You’re passionate about Stitch Fix and the mission we’re on -- transforming the way people find what they love in our very first international market and beyond.
  • Must have legal right to live & work in the U.K.
