OVERALL ROLE PURPOSE

The PR & Communications Assistant plays a pivotal role in supporting the PR and communications efforts at KMI Brands, contributing to the enhancement of brand visibility and media and influencer coverage. Responsible for assisting the Communications Manager, the role involves executing key tasks within the communications team to ensure the seamless implementation of PR and comms strategies and initiatives. With a focus on media relations, digital communications, social media support and administrative tasks.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

Reporting directly to the Communications Manager, this role presents an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to advance their PR and communications career within the beauty industry. With a minimum of 1 years of experience, the ideal candidate will be poised to support the day-to-day operations of the press and communications team while gaining valuable hands-on experience and professional development in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for beauty, a keen understanding of influencer and media relations, and experience within the beauty PR and /or marketing environment.

• Assist in the development and implementation of PR and communications strategies to promote the brands and their products to increase brand visibility and drive consumer engagement for KMI Brands
• Respond to media and influencer inquiries and facilitate product send outs / interview requests – for both press and influencers.
• PR and Influencer Stock – ordering stock when required and managing stock budget. Assisting with ad-hoc business send outs.
• Creation of press kits: Create compelling weekly e-blasts and pitches, as well as press releases and media kits when required, to effectively communicate brand messaging and product launches.
• Management of press portal: uploading of images and press releases.
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with press and influencers in the beauty industry.
• Support with coordination of press and marketing events, product launches, creative mailers and other PR and comms / influencer initiatives, including logistical support and on-site assistance when required.
• Daily monitoring of media coverage using press coverage tools to monitor analytics – ensuring coverage tracker is always up to date.
• Maintain media and influencer lists and databases, ensuring accuracy and relevance to target audiences.
• Monthly PR reports: Monitor media coverage and compile press clippings, reports, and analytics to track PR performance and effectiveness.
• Trend Insight: Monthly monitoring of industry trends, providing insights and recommendations to enhance brand positioning and messaging.
• Collaborate with other teams including marketing, social, commercial, and product to ensure brand alignment cross-functionally.
• Management of PR expense sheet – tracking and uploading expenses to excel sheets and internal expense portal.
• Act as a brand ambassador, representing KMI Brands at industry events, trade shows, and media interviews.
• Industry Knowledge: Stay informed about competitor activities and market developments, identifying opportunities and threats to inform PR strategies.
• Wider Team Support: Providing support to wider teams when required – including social media and marketing teams.
• Social media: Interest in social media, with the ability to assist with social media content creation when required.
• Admin: Taking meeting minutes and sharing notes cross functionally.
• PR Awards: Manage the submission process for awards, including researching relevant opportunities, drafting compelling entries, and ensuring deadlines are met. Experience in logging and monitoring award entries and tracking results.
