JOB DESCRIPTION

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Awareness of the latest home and lifestyle trends, plus an innate ability to see how to translate them into inspiring editorial content.
  • Working with the Group Style and Interiors Director to originate editorial stories for House Beautiful. As much as possible, all ideas should be 360 planned for multi-channel publishing and repurposing.
  • Under the direction of the Group Style and Interiors Director, commission, research, interview, write and edit stories for editorial from concept to final sign off.
  • Curate visual assets for stories that don’t require shoots, with support and assistance from other members of the homes hub when required.
  • Maximise all opportunities for sourcing low-cost content including book extracts, and features from the Hearst archives.
  • Assist the Group Style and Interiors Director on Style and cover shoots-this is not in a styling capacity but an administrative/production role-optioning and commissioning talent, co-ordinating supplies to and from shoot, paying invoices, managing budgets and checking credits-plus attending the shoot when necessary.
  • On certain occasions represent the Hearst lifestyle brands at key brand and PR events that the Group Style & Director deems necessary.
  • Attending meetings with licensing partners, with or on behalf of the Group Style and Interiors Director. These meetings are focused on the departments area of editorial expertise-namely new product development and licensing shoots.
  • Support the Group Style and Interiors Director to conceptualise, organise and execute licensing shoots in the support role as editorial shoots, attending when necessary
  • Managing budgets and schedules to ensure that content is always delivered on time and on budget
  • Be an ambassador of Hearst UK and its values.
  • You may be required to undertake such further duties as your skills, qualifications and experience allow and/or as may be assigned to you from time to time.

ABOUT YOU

An individual with exceptional creative conceptual skills and commercial awareness of the homes industry with the ability to translate into high quality content for editorial and commercial partner.

Someone with a strong visual eye with a good understanding of how to plan, create and deliver content for multi-channel use. Shoot (and potentially styling) experience is desirable but not essential.

A person with excellent visual editing and writing skills with an ability to work calmly under pressure and to tight deadlines.

A candidate who understands the creative opportunity offered by repurposing content from low-cost sources (such as book publishers and the Hearst archives) to make it brand appropriate.

Someone with a highly collaborative, can-do attitude and good communication and listening skills who will work well with the entire homes hub.

A flexible approach to your workload, using your initiative to troubleshoot and prioritise and being able to support and work into the Group Style Director with a friendly, can-do attitude is key to this busy role.
