The Details:

Harper’s Bazaar is one of the world’s most respected and successful magazine brands, delivering an intelligent, informed and visually stunning take on fashion, as well as unrivalled coverage of the arts, beauty, travel and working life.

The Role:

To work on Harper’s Bazaar and its sister publication Town & Country, subbing copy to a high standard and making sure articles are presented in a style and tone appropriate to the brands.

Key Responsibilities:

• Sub-edit and fact-check copy to a consistently high standard, editing to fit, creating heads and sells and selecting pull-quotes in keeping with the style of the brands.
• Sub-edit copy on the websites of both magazines, fact-checking details and formatting web pages.
• Read proofs to the highest standard of accuracy, speedily and fastidiously.
• Rewrite copy as directed, where necessary.
• Ensure that pictures are correctly captioned and credited, both for print and online.
• Fully understand the schedules, deadlines and production processes such that you can deputise in the absence of the Chief Sub and Deputy Chief Sub.
• Take a keen interest in taking on responsibility and assist the Chief Sub and Deputy Chief Sub at busy times.
