Absolutely Magazines – London’s leading luxury publication, comprised of 17 titles across the capital – is looking for a Fashion & Beauty Writer to create exciting content across print and online.
Reporting into the Digital Editor and Fashion Editor, the Fashion & Beauty Writer will work closely with the fashion editor who compiles all fashion content in the print magazines and will oversee fashion content online. You will be responsible for the monthly column which sits next to the fashion news page and jewellery pages in print plus compiling fresh fashion content online which will be all be overseen by the fashion editor. There is an opportunity to assist with the month main fashion and front cover shoot and take charge of fashion and beauty content for Absolutely’s stylish print magazines and the new Absolutely.London website. You’ll work as part of a close-knit team and will get to cover key events like Fashion Week and beauty brand launches. Our publications are aimed at high net-worth residents of London so an eye for elegance and luxury and a writing tone that is engaged and intelligent are essential.
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Writing regular features for Absolutely.London focusing on fashion, health and beauty, including profiles, trends, shopping galleries and industry news.
- Creating images for online features using Photoshop.
- Editing, proof reading your own work and uploading this to the CMS, ensuring content is SEO-friendly.
- Compiling and writing features for the fashion and health & beauty sections of Absolutely Magazine on a monthly basis, including trends and expert advice.
- Generating regular ideas for your section in print and online, to be relayed in editorial meetings.
- Working with the Digital Editor, Fashion Editor and Social Media Manager to ensure content for your section is appropriately promoted on social media.
- Monitoring and analysing web traffic data for your section.
- Helping to create the bi-weekly newsletter, plus any other newsletters and marketing / promotional mail-outs.
- Rebuilding print content for online when required.
- Creating commercial and native content when required.
- Representing Absolutely at external parties and at key corporate events.
PERSONAL SPECIFICATION
- One – two years’ digital experience at an online magazine or website, preferably working on Fashion & Health & Beauty features. Experience on a print magazine is a bonus, but not a requirement.
- First rate writing and editing skills with a strong news sense
- Organised, meticulous and able to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
- Excellent knowledge of social media and SEO best practice
- Understanding of the Absolutely brand, who our readers are and our place in the luxury digital and print landscape
- A strong knowledge of - and passion for – fashion and beauty. You must be bursting with ideas for content that will engage readers
- A strong contacts book of PRs
- The ability to be flexible and adapt to the changing needs of the business.
