Closer is looking for a talented deputy news editor to join its vibrant team.

This position would suit someone self-motivated and creative with at least six year’s experience working on a women’s weekly magazine or a national newspaper

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:

• A strong knowledge of the celebrity world and the ability to come up with exclusive stories.
• Excellent writing and editing skills and the ability to work under pressure and at speed
• Good relationships with celebrities, agents, writers and other showbiz contacts
• An eye for detail when reading and checking proofs
• An awareness of legal implications of celebrity stories and pictures
• Experience in commissioning freelancers and writers
• A strong news background, preferably with hard news newspaper experience, to secure emotional news features generated from the big issues in the news right now.
