YouTube announces new live streaming tools for creators at Made on YouTube 2026
Date posted on DIARY directory: Thursday 24th September 2026
YouTube has announced a series of new live streaming tools at its annual Made on YouTube event, designed to help creators reach new audiences, earn more, and co-create in real time. In August 2026, more than 600 million logged-in viewers watched live content on YouTube each day, with more than 40% of live watch time coming from viewers outside a creator’s home country.
React live to videos across YouTube
- YouTube is expanding its Watch With feature beyond livestreams to include all eligible long-form videos across the platform, rolling out later in 2026. Creators can tap “React live” on any eligible video or livestream to jump into the conversation in real time.
- Reacting creators keep the live ad revenue and fan funding they earn, while original creators receive clear attribution, added view credit in YouTube Studio, and full control over which of their videos can be reacted to.
Co-host streams with Go Live Together
- YouTube is introducing live creator matchmaking to its Go Live Together co-streaming feature, launching in early 2027. Creators will be able to browse and select from creators currently streaming, or enter a quick match queue to be automatically paired with similar creators they may not know yet.
Live Showdowns
- Also launching in 2027, Live Showdowns is an interactive format that turns fan funding into a team challenge. Co-hosts can kick off head-to-head matchups where viewers send chats, gifts, and Super Chats to push their creator’s score forward on-screen in real time, helping creators grow revenue while giving fans an active way to participate.
Live auto dubbing
- YouTube is piloting Live auto dubbing from early 2027, automatically translating a creator’s speech in real time so viewers can listen along in their preferred language as they speak - designed to help creators connect with international audiences who may currently be excluded by language barriers.
