Kazumi Asamura Hayashi has been appointed Head of Editorial Content at monthly fashion magazine Vogue Japan.
Anna Wintour, Chief Content Officer at Condé Nast and Global Editorial Director at Vogue USA, stated “Kazumi is a bold, intuitive editor, with an eye shaped by her previous experiences in culture and the arts. She truly understands how fashion intersects with identity, creativity, and the world at large. I believe she is the right leader to guide Vogue Japan into its next chapter, bringing a strong editorial voice alongside a deep understanding of the moment”.
Kazumi was previously the Editorial Director of i-D Japan, which she launched in 2016, shaping the title across print, digital and social platforms. In 2020, she expanded this vision regionally with the launch of i-D Asia, a digital platform spotlighting contemporary Asian culture. Earlier in her career, she was Editor-in-Chief of Libertin Dune, Japan’s leading independent fashion culture magazine, and co-founded The Last Gallery, a platform dedicated to contemporary art.
In her new role, Kazumi will report to Leslie Sun, Vogue APAC Editorial Director and Head of Editorial Content at Vogue Taiwan.
Kazumi will commence her role 29 January.
