Stylist magazine has announced the promotion of Samantha Silver from beauty editor to beauty director. Samantha joined the title as deputy beauty editor in 2011 before working her way up and winning seven industry awards along the way. She was previously on the beauty desks of Grazia and Company magazine. Samantha’s new role oversees all of Stylist’s beauty editorial in print and online, as well as spearheading all beauty brand extensions and spin-offs - including Stylist’s new Best Beauty awards and its annual beauty edition. In addition, Joanna McGarry is to become Stylist’s new beauty director-at-large. Joanna, who is stepping down from her role as associate editor (beauty) in order to study for a degree in Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture has been a member of Shortlist Media’s senior team for the last six years. First joining Stylist in 2010, she has overseen a record haul of 22 industry awards and the launch of one of the beauty industry’s most popular franchises: the Trend on Trial series. She will be exclusively contributing features and shoots on a monthly basis.

Both Samantha and Joanna’s new roles will commence on 9 September.
