Reach plc is returning two of its local news titles to their original newspaper branding, almost a decade after adopting the Live moniker.
StokeonTrentLive and NottinghamshireLive will adopt The Sentinel and Nottingham Post brands respectively across all platforms including website, app, social media and newsletter.
Natalie Fahy, Editor of NottinghamshireLive and the Nottingham Post, used local evidence to determine that building the future for local news in Nottingham should be under the Nottingham Post brand. The switch will include launching a premium offering in the city.
Robert Andrews, Editor of StokeonTrentLive and The Sentinel, and Graeme Brown, Editor-in-Chief for the region, identified that switching to The Sentinel brand will better reflect the newsroom's coverage of a larger area than the StokeonTrentLive title suggested, coinciding with their Premium launch.
The publisher launched its first Live brand, BelfastLive, in 2015, followed by launches in Leeds, Edinburgh, Dublin, Glasgow and London, while moving most regional titles to Live branding to reach audiences not engaging with local newspaper brands online.
