Online marketplace for independent fashion brands SilkFred has entered into administration. 

Founder of SilkFred, Emma Watkinson said: 

"SilkFred right now is in administration, and whilst this might not be where the story ends, for now, I'll say this... To everyone who backed us, shopped with us, sold with us and worked with us, THANK YOU. I wish there was an easy way to convey just how deeply my gratitude runs for everyone who was a part of SilkFred over the last 15 years. I'll do my best here, but it won't do it justice, trust me.

"Thank you to every independent brand owner and emerging designer who partnered with us. It was your drive and passion that gave us our reason for being. From those of you I met in the early days whilst going around markets, trade shows, cold calling and hassling on Facebook to those who dropped into our offices on Brick Lane to meet with Charlotte and our lovely team of brand managers - it has been the greatest work of my life to get to know you, work with you and build this very special community together.

"Seeing a lot of your businesses go from market stalls & kitchen table side hustles to multi-million pound businesses, selling in major retailers worldwide, has made so much of this journey worthwhile."
