Content Summary: 

  • In April 2019, the brand Ole Henriksen had the most significant Y-O-Y progression. Their EMV was £529,304 higher than last year with over 70% of their coverage coming from Instagram. Beauty influencer and make-up artist Thuy Le (@xthuyle) was the main contributor with an EMV of £255,512. The face care products were mainly featured in makeovers and beauty advice publications.
  • In April 2019, retailers earned a total EMV of £1,754,723 for skincare across online, print and social media. Boots and Superdrug topped the chart with a combined EMV of £894,571. Amongst their most mentioned non-retailer brands found were Ole Henriksen, Skinny Tan and ELF (Eyes Lips Face).
  • Online publications made up 26% of the market’s coverage in skincare in April 2019. Glamourmagazine.co.uk alone mentioned 187 different skincare brands with an online circulation of 54,542,103. Its most mentioned brand was La Roche-Posay of which the Hyalu B5 Serum was the most popular product.
  • Rowan Young (@Rowanyounggx) was the most popular influencer for male and unisex skincare on Instagram in April 2019. In total his content achieved 334,177 likes mentioning eight different skincare brands. The Ordinary was the most mentioned brand amongst his content, which was also viewed 322,309 times.
