Luxury footwear brand Manolo Blahnik and Vetements have collaborated on a limited edition capsule collection of co-branded styles. The co-branded collection styles were showcased for the first time at the Vetements ready-to-wear SS17 presentation during Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week. Vetements chose Manolo Blahnik’s Hangisi heel as the core style of the collaboration. After consulting with Mr Blahnik, Vetements’ Creative Director Demna Gvasalia removed the signature embellished buckle and scissored the fabric for a deconstructed raw aesthetic. The frayed, jagged edges and unfinished closings are juxtaposed against satin in the colours Hangisi is known for. They feature both brands’ logos stamped on the sole. Together with Mr. Blahnik, Demna developed a kitten heel slingback, court shoes that tie at the ankle, ankle boots, thigh highs and waist high waders. The pairs will be sold in limited edition co-branded packaging at select retailers and on manoloblahnik.com.
