Brent Lang, currently Executive Editor at Variety, has been appointed Editor-in-Chief at New York-based entertainment news website IndieWire.

Brent succeeds Dana Harris-Bridson, who is departing after 15 years, and will report to Jerry Ruiz, Senior Vice President, Operations & Finance.

"I'm deeply honoured to take the editorial helm of a brand I've admired for many years," said Brent. "IndieWire has long stood for smart, distinctive, and fearless journalism, and it has built an extraordinary legacy by championing artists, elevating emerging voices, and covering the industry with depth and conviction."

Brent will commence his role 17 August.
