In the wake of the fur ban, designers are turning to fringe to deliver the three-dimensional depth, movement and tactile luxury that fur once provided. Interpretations range from raw, shredded hems to sleek, architectural strands of silk and fibre-optic threads.

After seasons dominated by quiet luxury and pared-back basics, there is growing demand for clothing with character and a more expressive point of view. Elongated tassels and floor-sweeping strands brought movement and drama to otherwise static silhouettes, with fringe expected on dresses, belts, jackets and trousers in SS27.
