Entries are now open for the Country & Town House Great British & Irish Hotel x Polestar Sustainable Hotel of the Year Awards 2026. The awards celebrate the hotels, inns and retreats across the UK and Ireland that are leading the way in responsible luxury.

Now in their fourth year, the awards recognise establishments that combine exceptional hospitality with genuine environmental and social impact.

To mark the relaunch of the Great British & Irish Hotels guide, this year’s programme has expanded to include eight themed categories:

• Best Sustainable City or Town Stay
• Best Sustainable Country House Stay
• Best Sustainable Small Country Retreat
• Best Sustainable Pub or Inn
• Best Sustainable Wild & Remote Stay
• Best Sustainable Coastal Stay
• Best Sustainable Private Rental or Exclusive Use
• Best Sustainable Wedding Venue

From these, one overall winner will be crowned Sustainable Hotel of the Year.

The entry deadline date is on 13 March, and winners will be announced on 1 May. 

Winners will receive:

• A six-page feature in the 2026 edition of Great British & Irish Hotels
• A physical award for display
• A winner’s logo for marketing use
• Social and digital support from Country & Town House
• An invitation to a celebratory winners’ dinner in London

Eligibility:

• Entrants must be based in the UK or Ireland and able to demonstrate that sustainability and regeneration are central to their business plan and guest experience, with measurable environmental and social programmes in place.

The awards will be judged by an expert panel including Juliet Kinsman, Francisca Kellett, Annabel Heseltine, Sarah Langford, Marian Boswall, Petra Petterson, Lucy Cleland and Fiona Duncan.
