AKA Communications has been appointed by Bermondsey Brazilian steakhouse DOM CARNIVORO to handle its UK PR and communications.

AKA Communications will lead consumer PR and media relations, covering the press programme, food and lifestyle media, founder interviews, social and influencer activity.

Dom Carnívoro was founded in 2021 by Brazilian couple Flávia De Oliveira and Keila Reruska, who are from Bahia and Fortaleza respectively. The restaurant is rooted in the cooking of north-east Brazil and was recently featured in the Financial Times as the place to find London's most exciting Brazilian food. The founders plan to open a butcher and restaurant concept in Elephant & Castle next year.

The 76-cover restaurant cooks exclusively over charcoal, serving a full à la carte steak menu alongside an all-you-can-eat option, with meat personally selected by the founders at Smithfield Market. The grill is led by Brazilian head chef Marcela.

"Keila and Flávia cook the food they grew up with, over charcoal, with every cut chosen by them at Smithfield. It's a neighbourhood restaurant with a real story behind it, and we're looking forward to introducing it to more of London," said Sam Sharp, Senior Account Director at AKA Communications.
