Condé Nast Traveller job - Acting Features Editor

This is a wide-reaching role responsible for a number of front and back of book sections as well as commissioning across main features in the magazine, at a time when it’s going through an exciting transition into an international platform across the UK and US editions.
The acting feature editor will look after – planning, commissioning, editing and sometimes writing for – regulars including Word of Mouth, Fantasy Lifestyle, On the Scene, Trendwatch and Staycation, as well as the annual Holiday Style Guide supplement. 
They will have their finger on the pulse of all things trending in the travel world, from the hottest hotel openings to under-the-radar emerging destinations, as well as tapping into the broader cultural zeitgeist and interpreting how it touches upon travel. 
They will have an extensive contact book of PRs in travel, food, books and culture, as well as a network of global writers and stringers, and come armed with fresh angles and ahead-of-the-curve story ideas. Exceptional time-and-task-management and a positive solutions-not-problems attitude are a given.
Alongside the deputy editor, they’ll also be responsible for managing the feature team’s editorial and fashion assistant and, although primarily a print-first role, they will also be expected to contribute regularly to

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Planning, commissioning and editing regular front of book sections

  • Good address book of travel PR’s
  • Good database of global stringers
  • Calm manner
  • Well organised
